Joanne E. Spencer (71) of Brockton passed away peacefully on Tuesday, July 02, 2024 at Regalcare at Taunton.
She was predeceased by her parents, her sister Janet, her son David Spencer and her best friend Debbie McLean.
Joanne leaves a legacy of laughter, love, and memories with her sons James Spencer and wife Krista of Brockton, and Joshua Spencer of Taunton. Aunt of Leslie and Tony, Lila Dews, Charlie Correia, and many other “adopted” nieces and nephews She had two granddaughters, Lexi Spencer and partner Frankie Atkinson of Fall River, and Zoey Spencer of Brockton. Also two great grand children Paisley and Kalliope Atkinson and one more on the way. Finally, her best friend Mary Frankio helped her get through the last few years.
Joanne was known for many things but her strongest accolade was advocacy, She was a huge advocate for everyone with disabilities, but especially her own three sons. She loved lobster, cheesecake, Barry Manilow and the beach. She always welcome everyone into her home with open arms. If you ask anyone that grew up around Trinity Village from the 80’s-00’s, they knew her and knew she was the safe place of the neighborhood. She was a Family Advocate at Family Ties for many years, advocating for families of children with disabilities. Even despite her declining health, she always wanted to help everyone else. She was known for her ability to listen to you for hours, give the best advice and the best hugs.
Friends and Family are cordially invited to attend a public visitation on Saturday, July 13, 2024 from 01:00 PM - 04:00 PM in the Southcoast Funeral Home, 1555 Pleasant Street, Fall River, MA
Funeral Home Service will follow at 04:00 PM, Interment will be private.
