Obituary

Mr. John Douglas Barry, a resident of Andover, passed away at the VA Medical Center in West Roxbury of Friday morning, June 28, 2024. He was 80 years old.

Born in White Plains, New York, he was the beloved son of the late Eugene P. and Margaret M. (Murphy) Barry. Doug was a US Marine veteran. Mr. Barry was employed by the IRS as a Lead Tax Examiner, for many years. In his spare time, Dough enjoyed studying the Civil War and was a collector of Civil War memorabilia. Mr. Barry was a very religious man and was extremely loving and generous. He will be dearly missed.

Doug is survived by his loving sisters; Margo and her husband, Daniel Polett of Gladwyne, Pennsylvania, Carol Inglis of Medford, Oregon and Faith Barry of Tucson, Arizona, nephews; Daniel, Marc, Robert and Christopher Polett, niece; Margo Polett, cousin; Jane, Jake and Egan O'Hara of Harvard and friend; Mike Richard of Andover. He was also the brother-in-law of the late Les Inglis and Augie Augustine.

His Funeral Mass will be celebrated in St. Augustine Church, 43 Essex Street, Andover on Friday, July 5, 2024, at 10 AM. Relatives and friends are most welcome to attend. Interment will be held in the VA National Cemetery in Bourne on Friday, July 5, 2024, at 1:45 PM.
