Susanne C. (Faron) Martin, 86, of Worcester, died Monday, June 24th, in St. Vincent Hospital surrounded by her family. She leaves a son, James F. Ringer and his wife, Sara of Baton Rouge, LA; a daughter, Carol A. Ringer of Grafton; three grandchildren, Erin Regan and her husband, Matthew, Nicholas Graham and his wife, Michelle, and Marybeth Graham; four great-grandchildren, Eloise Regan, Declan Regan, Lyla Graham, and Phoebe Graham. She also leaves three stepsons, William Martin of Leominster, James Martin and his wife, Tamara of Westborough, and Richard Martin of Minneapolis, MN; eight step-grandchildren, a step great-grandchild, and many very special cousins and dear friends. Fondly known as “Aunt Sue” to Ginny, Fritz, and Eleanore O’Doherty, she cherished the time and memories created together. She was predeceased by a daughter, Laurie A. (Ringer) Graham, and a stepson, Roger Martin.
Born in Worcester, the daughter of James E. and Clara C. (Chrzewski) Faron, Susanne was a proud graduate of Notre Dame Academy and Worcester’s Teacher’s College. Susanne was a dedicated athlete who started her tennis journey at the Worcester Tennis Club as a child and continued to showcase her skills at Holden Towers. During her junior years, Susanne was a proud member of the Hazel Whitman Junior Tennis Team, organized by the late Fran Jennings. This experience not only honed her tennis abilities but also led to lifelong friendships that she treasured deeply.
She dedicated much of her life to education, spending several years as a teacher within the Westborough and Wellesley school systems. Her commitment to her work and her students was unwavering, making a lasting impact on all who knew her. Susanne also worked for Digital Equipment for over 20 years, as a secretary.
In her retirement, Susanne continued to contribute to her community by working as a receptionist at the Greendale YMCA. Her warm smile and friendly demeanor made everyone feel welcome and valued. She also served as a mental health counselor at Sage Place in Shrewsbury, where she made a significant impact on her clients’ lives. Additionally, she provided respite care for Seven Hills Foundation, offering comfort and support to those in need. Susanne’s legacy of compassion, friendship, and dedication to her passions will be remembered by all who knew her.
She cherished the time spent with her family and friends, always valuing those precious moments of togetherness, joy and laughter.
Susanne's family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to all the family and friends who visited her at Millbury Care One and at Christopher Heights. They are especially grateful to the staff of Christopher Heights for the compassion and care Susanne received.
Her visitation will be held on Friday, July 26th, from 9:00 until 10:00 a.m. in O’CONNOR BROTHERS FUNERAL HOME, 592 Park Avenue, Worcester, followed by her funeral service. Burial will be in Worcester County Memorial Park, 217 Richards Avenue, Paxton. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Susanne’s name to the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation, 13770 Noel Road, Suite 801889, Dallas, TX 75380, a cause that was near to Susanne’s heart.
