Obituary

Stephan "Steve" R. Killmer, 63, of Rochdale, died on Friday, June 28th at home. He leaves his loving wife of 30 years, Debra (Campbell) Killmer; three daughters, Jillian Johnson and her husband, David of Yorktown, VA, Dawn Killmer and Stephanie Killmer both of Spencer; a stepson, David Lamica of North Brookfield; a brother, George A. Killmer of North Brookfield; six grandchildren, Alyssa and Gavin Johnson, Trinity Lamarche, Michael Hackett III, Tristan Patchen, and Bryleigh Harvey; and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by two brothers, Donald (Sonny) and Robert (Charlie) Killmer; and two sisters, Dorothy Gallant and Joyce Grampetro.

Steve was born in Milford, the son of George F. and Dorothy P. (Trahar) Killmer. He spent his life making meaningful contributions both professionally and personally. After serving in the United States Army, Steve’s career as a machinist where he worked diligently at various companies, notably Tyco Electronics for 40 years and Mercury Wire until his final days. His craftsmanship and expertise in his field were admired by colleagues and industry peers alike. Beyond his professional achievements, Steve was deeply committed to the local community. He devoted himself to supporting others through his involvement with Alcoholics Anonymous, where he served as a sponsor. His own journey to sobriety spanned 14 years, of which he was immensely proud. Steve's compassionate heart and willingness to help others were central to his character. In his leisure time, Steve found joy in the simple pleasures of life. He was an avid reader, always eager to delve into books that broadened his understanding of the world. His generosity knew no bounds; he was known for his charitable spirit and willingness to lend a hand to those in need. Steve also had a passion for motorcycles and golfing, finding solace and excitement in these pursuits. Yet, his greatest joy came from spending time with his beloved family. He cherished every moment with his spouse, children, and grandchildren, creating lasting memories filled with love and laughter. Steve leaves behind a profound impact on all who had the privilege of knowing him. His legacy of kindness, perseverance, and generosity will continue to inspire and uplift those whose lives he touched.

His calling hours will be held on Sunday, July 7th from 12 Noon to 3:00pm in O’CONNOR BROTHERS FUNERAL HOME, 592 Park Avenue. Burial will be private and at the convenience of the family. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
