Obituary

Dr. Ronald Balas, 76, passed away peacefully on June 30th, 2024 after a long hard fight.

He was born on May 8, 1948 in Boston to John and Julia Balas (Bartaky). He grew up in Savin Hill of Dorchester, where he had his first job at the Bungalow flipping burgers and coaching little league baseball. He resided in Plymouth, Ma for the past 47 years. He married the love of his life, Maiju L. Eskola, on September 21, 1974. Ron taught Spanish in the Boston School system for over 31 years. He earned his PHD in Education which lead him to becoming a professor at UMass Boston, Quincy College, and Boston adult Ed. Ron loved baseball, basketball, Elvis, entertaining, dancing and having a good laugh. His wife and daughter were his world. They were always the three amigos. Ron loved traveling and spending winters in Florida on the beach.

He is lovingly survived by his wife Maiju L. Balas, daughter Mia L. Bosse and husband Joe. His four grandchildren who he was beyond proud of, Zachary, Cameron, Joey, and Emma. His siblings Edward, William and wife Florence, Fred and wife Lynn, Joanne, and Julia. Multiple family members including nieces, nephews, and cousins. Preceded in death by his brothers Robert and Richard.

Visitation will be held at Lutheran Church of the Cross in Hanover, MA on Wednesday, July 10th from 10-11 am. Immediately followed by the funeral services at 11am.
