Obituary

Michael "Mike" Sundance Walsh, 53 of Fort Lauderdale, FL died Monday, July 1st in UMass Hospital, University Campus. Mike is survived by his parents, Edward and Kathleen M. (Christy) Walsh, his brother, Edward F. Walsh and his wife, Jill all of Worcester and his niece, Nicole and nephew, Derek Tempesta.

Michael was born in Worcester and spent most of his adult life in Florida. He was a graduate of St. Mary’s High in Worcester, the University of Massachusetts in Amherst and earned his Juris Doctorate Degree from St. Thomas University in Miami, becoming a partner at Kubicki Draper in Florida. Mike was an avid New England sports fan especially the Patriots, he loved the annual “Flopfest” tailgate in Miami, Celtics games with his brother and sister in-law, a lover of animals and enjoyed traveling the world with friends. He had an ability to make people laugh, a trait he quite enjoyed and will be remembered for his sense of humor. Michael was one of kind, staying in contact with his countless friends throughout the country, attending concerts or playing the role of the anonymous philanthropist, seeking no recognition for the kindness and generosity he bestowed upon others. He will be sorely missed by all who knew and loved him.

The family wishes to extend their heartfelt thanks to the staff at UMass Hospital ICU for the kindness, care and compassion provided to Michael and his family during his time there.

Calling hours for Michael will be held on Saturday, July 13th from 12 Noon until 3:00 p.m. in O'CONNOR BROTHERS FUNERAL HOME, 592 Park Avenue. In lieu of flowers please make memorial contributions to the Worcester Animal Rescue League, 139 Holden Street, Worcester, MA 01606.
