Dolores was born and raised in Braintree, Massachusetts. In 1958, at the age of 20, she married Richard Metayer and moved to Old Mystic, Connecticut. They had two children, Richard Jr. and Franklin. Tragically, Richard Jr. passed away at 22 due to illness. Franklin grew up to become a Green Beret, defending Eastern Europe.
Alongside raising her children, Dolores worked as a Senior Engineering Assistant at Electric Boat. After retiring, she and Richard traveled to over 41 countries worldwide.
In her final two weeks, Dolores was lovingly cared for by her daughter-in-law Deney Metayer, her son Franklin, her husband Richard, Franklin’s best friend Wayne Chapman, and the compassionate staff at Pendleton. She passed away peacefully on June 30th, with her husband and son by her side.
Dolores's family will welcome relatives and friends at the Dinoto Funeral Home, 17 Pearl St., Mystic on Wednesday, July 3rd, from 2 to 4 pm. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Mary Mother of the Redeemer Church, 69 Groton Long Point Road, Groton on Monday, July 8th, at 10 am, followed by burial at St. Patrick’s Cemetery in Old Mystic.
