Wilma Nadia Alessandro, age 89, of Mashpee, MA, formerly of Malden, MA, peacefully passed away on June 28th, 2024.
Wilma was born on January 31st, 1935, in Rome, Italy, to Franco Savini and Angiolina (Covitti) Savini.
She enjoyed a happy childhood in Italy with her sisters before immigrating to the United States. Following the hardships of World War II and her mother's passing in 1947, Wilma's family settled in Medford, Massachusetts. In 1958, Wilma married Joseph Alessandro and together they raised four children in Malden, Massachusetts. Wilma was a devoted family woman and spent her younger years volunteering for NAMI (National Alliance on Mental Illness). She will be deeply missed.
Wilma is survived by three sons: Carl Alessandro of Wakefield, MA, Gregory Alessandro and daughter-in-law Jean Alessandro of Braintree, MA, Mark Alessandro of Wakefield, MA, and her daughter Denise Taymore and son-in-law Myles Taymore of Palm Harbor, FL, her grandchildren Sabrina, Nolan, Carina, Joe, and many nieces, and nephews. She is also survived by her sister Julie Bandoni of Mashpee, MA, and her dear friend Luke Dunn of Mashpee, Ma. Wilma was predeceased by her husband Joseph Alessandro and her sister Anna Savini.
A funeral service will be held at the A. J. Spadafora Funeral Home, 865 Main Street, Malden on Monday July 8th at 10:30am. Visiting hours will be held on Sunday July 7th from 4:00pm-7:00pm. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend.
Interment will be in Forest Dale Cemetery, Malden.
