Obituary

Stephen C. McCord, Sr., 72, of Lowell, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, June 26, 2024.

Steve was born in Lowell on September 7, 1951, to the late Charles E. McCord and the late Mary A. (Gleason) McCord. He was preceded in death by his son, Timothy S. McCord.

As a youth, Steve was a standout athlete. He excelled at both baseball and boxing, and was an avid sports fan throughout his life. He attended Lowell Public Schools and remained close with the friends he made during that period throughout his, and their lives.

Steve was a tireless worker, he held many jobs, and acquired many skills over the course of his life. In particular, he dedicated many years to driving for Roadrunner at the LRTA and working at Saint Patrick’s Cemetery, and cherished the opportunity to lift the spirits of those he came in contact with. He was also a co-founder of Consignment Corner, originally located in Dracut, MA which was a source of significant pride. Outside of work, Steve found joy in fishing, cooking, listening to music, and entertaining friends and family. He was a former member of the Lowell Brotherhood of Elks and a communicant of Saint Margaret Parish.

Steve is survived by his long time partner Donna Gulizia, whose unwavering commitment and dedication greatly eased the burden of his care as his health declined. He is also survived by his children: Kerry Morelli and her husband Donald, of Merrimack, NH, Stephen McCord Jr., and his wife Kate, also of Merrimack, NH, and Maria McCord of Milford, NH, as well as his grandchildren; Cole Enos, Meagan Morelli, Kade Enos, Alyssa McCord, Violet Millette, Aidan McCord, Alita and Olive Gulizia.

Steve loved to entertain family, friends, and neighbors by the pool and on their deck, alongside their beloved dog Bella. Together with Donna, they were known for their generosity, always ready to extend a warm welcome, share their home, and provide near endless laughter and unforgettable stories.

Steve will be dearly missed by all who knew him, and his memory will live on in the hearts of those he loved.
