Richard Martin Glockner, 82 of Hopedale formerly of Bellingham, died June 27 at his home with his beloved family beside him, following a long illness. He was the husband of Arlene (Hughes) Glockner for the past 62 years.
Born in Milford, May 22, 1942, the son of the late C. Martin and Julia (Kozak) Glockner, Richard was raised and had lived in Bellingham for most of his life prior to moving to Hopedale 20 years ago.
He was a graduate of Bellingham High School and also attended the Industrial Technical School in Boston.
Richard had worked for the General Electric Company as a Supervisor and also at the family restaurant , Ma Glockner’s in Bellingham for many years as the bartender.
He later worked for the FENWAL Company for 30 years before retiring.
Richard had been a member of the Charles River Masonic Lodge AF&AM for over 50 years.
Richard enjoyed hunting and fishing, tending to his garden , playing cards and entertaining his extended family.
In addition to his wife he is survived by his children, Beth Fox of Hopedale and Erik Glockner of Franklin.
He is also survived by his sister Barbara Esper of Boynton Beach, Florda.
Richard is also survived by his grandchildren, Devon Fox and his wife Alicia of Hopedale and Brittany Fox and her finance Micah Webster of Somerville.
A graveside funeral service will be held on Saturday, July 6 at Oak Hill Cemetery in Bellingham at 11:30 a.m.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made in his memory to the St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
