Obituary

Louise P. Donahue
Massachusetts Department of Revenue Retiree

TEWKSBURY: Louise P. (Decarie) Donahue, age 81, a resident of the Joan’s Farm community in Tewksbury, formerly of East Boston and Winthrop, passed away at the Lowell General Hospital on Thursday evening, June 27, 2024.

She was the beloved wife of Dennis P. Donahue, with whom she would have celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary together on July 25th of this year.

Born in Edmundston, New Brunswick, Canada on May 22, 1943, she was the daughter of the late Benjamin Decarie and the late Stella (Boucher) Decarie.

Louise was raised in Edmundston, attended local schools and graduated from Cormier High School.

Prior to retirement, she was employed by the Massachusetts Department of Revenue, where she worked as a data entry specialist.

Louise was a genuine soul who cared for others more than herself. From an early age taking care of her siblings, to raising her family of five in East Boston, to becoming a motherly figure and good friend to so many including her extended family, neighbors, church parishioners, and so many of her children and grandchildren’s friends. Louise exuded warmth to anyone she met. Her smile and laugh lit up a room.

Louise was very involved in the communities where she lived. She volunteered at every opportunity, and was proud of being the school milk mother, pizza mother, school trip chaperone, church dance and bazaar organizer, church reader, Cub Scout leader, as well as Brownie and Girl Scout leader. She also relished the role of being the neighborhood taxi mom, and later in life, taxi grandmother. She was everyone’s biggest fan and greatest supporter.

Louise most enjoyed spending time with her family. She loved celebrating birthdays and holidays, and she reveled in being part of family vacations, sporting events, dance recitals, day trips, and enjoying simple dinners and gatherings with her children and their families. “Grammy” was her favorite and most proud title.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by her three children, Mark K. Donahue and his wife Gina, of Omaha, NE, Shawn P. Donahue and his wife Jody, of Reading, MA, and Renee A. Molinari and her husband James, of Chelmsford, MA, her seven grandchildren, Sophie Donahue, Max Donahue, Megan Groper, Paige Donahue, Emma Donahue, Alex Molinari and Chloe Molinari. Louise is the sister of George Decarie and his wife France, Anne Church, Guy Decarie and his wife Nicole, and the late Paul Decarie and his surviving life partner, Josee St.-Antoine. She leaves many nieces, nephews and extended family members.

Family and friends will be received on Saturday, July 6, from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. at the Farmer & Dee Funeral Home, 16 Lee Street, Tewksbury, followed by her funeral procession to St. William’s Church, 1351 Main Street, Route 38, Tewksbury, where her funeral mass will be celebrated at 11:30 a.m. Interment of her ashes will be held at a later date. Those who wish, may make a donation in her memory to the Salvation Army
