James Elias Choy, 79, of Derry, NH, passed away Wednesday June 26, 2024 at Holy Family Hospital in Methuen, MA after a period of declining health. James was born January 24, 1945 in Lima, Peru and was a son of the late Elias and Emilia (Wong) Choy. James was raised and educated in Peru and had been a resident of Derry for more than 30 years.
Before retirement, James was employed as an electronic technician with Ametek Aerospace. A devote Catholic. With hobbies including suduko, spider solitaire, people watching, and going on drives. Having adventures across both the United States and Peru.
James is survived by two sons, James E. Choy, Jr. of Derry, and Jonathan Choy of Plainfield, IN; one daughter-in-law, Shyanne Choy-Grigsby of Plainfield, IN; two sisters, Kamsau Long of Attleboro, MA, and Inez Pung of Manchester, NH. In addition to his parents, James was predeceased by his brother Moises Choy in 2017.
Calling hours will be Tuesday, July 2, 2024 from 4 to 6pm at the Peabody Funeral Homes and Crematorium, 15 Birch St., Derry. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday at 10:00am in St. Thomas Aquinas Church, 26 Crystal Ave., Derry. The burial will follow at Forest Hill Cemetery in East Derry.
