Eleanor Costa (Bedard), 83, of Fall River passed away on Friday, June 28, 2024, at home surrounded by her loving family.
Eleanor is predeceased in life by her parents Omer and Veronica (Fogarty) Bedard. She was the wife of the late Donald Costa of Fall River, her daughter Paula M. Costa of Fall River, her brother Ernest Bedard of Ohio, and her sister Ruth Shepardson of Swansea.
Eleanor leaves a legacy of love, memories, and happiness with her family that consists of her son Donald P. Costa and their spouse Robin of Fall River, her two grandchildren Kyle P. Costa, and Samson Costa-Blomquist and their spouse Crystal, her sister Janice Robidoux of Fall River, as well as several nieces and nephews.
Eleanor in life was a champion to public service, specifically with the care and education of special needs individuals, she dedicated and advocated for all of her students while working for the City of Fall River as a Special Education Teacher.
Eleanor had many past times in life but was best known for her involvement within the community, she had previously served on childcare and educational boards including the Board of the King Phillip Daycare, she could also always be found reading with a good book in her hand, she was a life long learner in which her three Master Degrees from Bridgewater State University, Fitchburg State University, and Stonehill College could attest to. She had always prided herself on learning as much as she could to support childhood education and her students. On the weekends she could be found shopping looking for the next big purchase, playing cards, or out and about at the Sunday yard sales.
Friends and Family are cordially invited to attend a public visitation on Tuesday, July 02, 2024 from 04:00 PM - 08:00 PM in the Southcoast Funeral Home, 1555 Pleasant Street, Fall River, MA
Funeral Service will be on Wednesday, July 03, 2024 at 08:15 AM at Southcoast Funeral Home, 1555 Pleasant Street, Fall River with a Mass of Christian Burial to be held at 09:00 AM at Saint Anthony of Padua Church, 48 16th St, Fall River. Burial will follow at Saint Patrick's Cemetery with graveside prayers in Fall River.
