Gregory William Hommel, 62, of Hanson passed away on June 20, 2024 after a long illness. He was born on April 2, 1962 at the Harley Hospital in Quincy, MA. Greg spent his life deeply engaged in the world of construction, a passion ignited by his fascination with trucks and heavy equipment from a young age. He graduated from Whitman Hanson High School and built a distinguished career as an equipment operator and Supervisor in heavy construction.
Outside of his professional life, Greg loved the outdoors. His love for the water extended to fishing and boating with his family. He was a proud member of the Old Colony Sportsmen Club where he enjoyed various disciplines of target shooting. Greg was an avid reader and spent a few years writing a book about his time on the water.
Gregory leaves behind his wife of 35 years, Paula, and his children Gregory Jr., Matthew, and his wife Colleen. He was a proud grandfather to Jason and Anna, and is also survived by his brother Skip and wife Julie. He was predeceased in death by his parents, Gerry and Ed Hommel.
