Obituary

Elizabeth Joyce Stinson Roberts, 92, of Alapaha, Georgia, passed away Thursday, June 27, 2024, in Irwin County, Georgia.

Private graveside services will be held.

Mrs. Roberts was born June 16, 1932, in Cochran, Georgia, to the late Stephen H. & Alice Bethune Stinson. She graduated high school in Enigma, Georgia and married Marcus F. Roberts on July 1, 1949. Mrs. Roberts was a loving daughter, wife, sibling, mother-in-law, & MaMa. She was a devoted child of God. Her trust in God was constant. As a wife and mother, she always put her family first. Mrs. Roberts was a member of Spring Hill Primitive Baptist Church becoming a member on October 23, 1966. She was loved by her church family.

Mrs. Roberts is best remembered for many talents and one being an absolutely wonderful cook. Everything she prepared was delicious. In her younger years she loved to sew. She made many dresses for herself and her daughters. But she is best remembered for her gentle spirit and steadfast love. Today she is resting in the arms of Jesus, rejoicing with her loved ones passed on before her. May she Rest In Peace.

She is survived by her daughters: Nancy Roberts Redman & Gerald of Irwin County, Leshia Roberts Lewis & Jeff of Irwin County; a son-in-law, Jimmy Harris of Nashville; grandsons: Marcus Harper of Tarrytown, New York and Jim Harris of Nashville; granddaughters: Ava Lewis Bryant & Zac of Fitzgerald and Rebecca Lewis Griffis & Garrett of Coffee County; great-granddaughters: Kadience Harris and Charlie Ray Griffis and her siblings: Joan Hogan of Valdosta and Marian Swain of Enigma. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Marcus F. Roberts; a daughter, Marcia Harris and a brother, Steve “Sonny” Stinson.
