Obituary

MEREDITH --- Shari Jeanine Aubrey died Tuesday, June 25, 2024 in Meredith, New Hampshire.

Shari was born in Phoenix, Arizona, in 1950 to LT and Helen Lewis. Following her graduation from Highland High School, she attended the University of New Mexico, where she met and fell head over heels for Bob Aubrey when they played Tony and Maria in a 1969 production of West Side Story.

Shari and Bob were longtime members of Monte Vista Christian Church in Albuquerque, New Mexico, where they were married in 1971. Shari used her fantastic singing voice, love of music, and a firm hand to build a vibrant music program at Monte Vista. In the 1980s and 1990s, Shari directed the adult and children’s choirs and the handbell choir. Shari also directed numerous adult and children’s shows at Monte Vista, including organizing a summer variety show.

Shari supported her family through her work at Qualmed, a consulting company, and Blue Cross Blue Shield of New Mexico, where she retired as Manager of the Professional/Facility Provider Network.

Shari suffered from Alzheimer’s in the last decade of her life, but she never lost her loving spirit and was quick to tell anyone around her that she loved them and thought they were beautiful.

She will be missed by all who loved her. Shari is preceded in death by her father LT Lewis, her mother Helen, and her beloved husband Bob, to whom she was married for almost 53 years. She is survived by her sons Lucas Aubrey (Mandie), Aaron Aubrey (Maddy Morgan), and David Aubrey, as well as her grandchildren Ethan, Aaron, Ezra, and Alex Aubrey. She is remembered with love by her sister Janet Cooley (Bill), brother Larry Lewis (Pat), and her loving nieces and nephews Kristen Michael (Matt), Craig Lewis (Kristen Ufolla), Kelly Durrett, Katherine Neumon (Darrel Hale), Brett Lewis (Rocio), and Rachel Cooley Shawler (Evan). She is also remembered by her brother-in-law David Spackeen, mother-in-law Donna Aubrey, and sisters-in- law Melissa Demas (Chris), Jill Aubrey (Kirk Anderson), and Tammy Johnson.

A service will be held at Monte Vista Christian Church, Albuquerque, New Mexico.
