LACONIA ---- Peter Dogherty Spinney, 82, passed away on Saturday, June 22, 2024, at Beth Israel Hospital in Boston, MA.
Peter was born on June 3, 1942, in Winchester, MA, the son of Dr. William Spinney and Rosemand Spinney.
Peter was a 1961 graduate of Lawrence Academy. He enjoyed camping and fishing with his wife and children, when they were young, and coaching his son and son-in-law’s hockey teams. He had a love for cars. Whenever possible he was trading in a car or truck and getting a new one. He also enjoyed boating on Lake Winnipesaukee. Most of all he enjoyed spending time with his wife of 61 years and their family.
Peter served in the National Guard in the mid 60’s to the late 70’s. He worked for New England Telephone for 33 years in several different capacities. In that career he worked overseas in Asia and developed a love of traveling with his wife, Sally.
Peter is survived by his beloved wife Sally (Miner) Spinney, his three children, Dean Spinney of Laconia, NH, Stacy Kruger and her husband Jeffrey Kruger of Belmont, NH and Gregg Spinney and his wife Rebecca Spinney of Concord, NH and his brother William Spinney of Micco, FL. He has four grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by his parents.
Calling Hours will be held on Tuesday, July 9, 2024, from 4:00pm-6:00pm, in the Carriage House at Wilkinson-Beane-Simoneau-Paquette Funeral Home, 164 Pleasant Street, Laconia, NH 03246.
A Graveside Service will be held on Wednesday, July 10, 2024, at 12:00pm, at the New Hampshire Veterans Cemetery, 110 Daniel Webster Highway, Boscawen, NH 03303.
Donations may be made in Peter’s name to the Belknap County Nursing Home, 30 County Drive, Laconia, NH 03246, where his wife Sally resides.
