Obituary

Jeffrey Barr, 75, of Worcester, died Tuesday, June 25th. He leaves his long-time partner of 30 years, Leslie Graham of Worcester; his daughter, Casey Barr of Sterling and her mother, Diane Reilly of Lancaster; two brothers, Daniel Barr and his wife, Linda of Brewster, and Andy Barr and his wife, Mary of Tennessee; and two grandchildren, Saraya, and Olivia. He also leaves close friends Mary and Dick, Kevin and Patty, Tim; and extended family and friends.
Born in Newport, Rhode Island to Forest and Betty (Lane) Barr, Jeffrey was a proud graduate of the former Classical High School. He continued his education at Clark University, where he earned his bachelor's degree.
Jeffrey retired from UMASS Memorial Medical Center in 2019 after a decade of compassionate service as a patient advocate. Before his time at UMASS, he dedicated over 25 years to Elder Services, where he served as a supervisor of protective services, providing support and guidance to those in need.
An avid fisherman, Jeffrey enjoyed spending time in New Brunswick, ME, and at the Cape, where he found peace and joy in the sport. Summers were particularly special to him, as he relished time spent at the family house in Hyannis. He also had a great love for reading, often losing himself in books that spanned a wide range of genres and topics.
During his college years, Jeffrey was a standout basketball player for Clark University, earning recognition as a leading rebounder during the 1969-1970 season.
Jeffrey Barr will be remembered for the loving kindness and generosity he so freely extended to both his family and community. He gravitated towards the disenfranchised, never passing judgment and always demonstrating extraordinary understanding and compassion.
His funeral will be held on Tuesday, July 2nd with a service at 10:00 a.m. in O’CONNOR BROTHERS FUNERAL HOME, 592 Park Avenue. Burial will be at the convenience of the family. Calling hours are Monday, July 1st from 4:00 until 7:00 p.m. in the funeral home.
