LACONIA ---- Lorraine Zagreski, 101, of Benton Drive, passed away on Sunday, June 23, 2024, at Golden View Healthcare Center in Meredith.
Lorraine was born on October 4, 1922, in Laconia, the daughter of Frank and Jenny (Zimmerman) Lovett.
Married to William Zagreski, they shared many happy years together until his passing in 2004. She loved reading and always had a book nearby. In the evening while watching PBS, she would be found knitting hats and mittens, often 50 sets in one year to give to local charities at Christmas time. She knitted blankets for the NH Humane Society to put in the cages of kittens. She had boundless energy and was always busy until 4:00pm when it was time for a highball and crossword puzzles that she did every day. Before she retired, she walked to her employment, Lynch Clothing Store, from her home on Holman Street in a dress and high heels looking very sharp.
Lorraine loved to cook and bake. Every Sunday dinner was special, with invited family, she would do everything, even clean up because she just wanted guests to relax and enjoy. Christmas time she decorated her home upstairs and down. The whole family treated to a roast beef dinner and many desserts. She would show up at your door all year round with a cake, pie or cookies because she felt like baking that day. A true homemaker, she loved her home very much and it was her happy place.
She was a wonderful mom and wife. Her family meant everything to her and she will be greatly missed.
Lorraine is survived by her sons, Thomas MacKissock and his wife Kathy, John Corson and his wife Gloria, James MacKissock, and Gerald MacKissock and his wife Anne, daughter Nancy Merrill and her husband Bruce, five grandchildren, Zachary, Marc, Marcy, Max and Julie, and one sister Gloria Doucett. In addition to her parents, Lorraine is predeceased by her husband William Zagreski, son Charles MacKissock, daughter-in-law Jane MacKissock, grandson Ryan MacKissock and his wife Tina, and siblings, Frank Jr., Richard, Maryjane, Shirley, Joanne, Betty, Marie and Barbara
There will be no calling hours.
A Graveside Service will be held on Tuesday, July 2, 2024, at 10:00am, at Bayside Cemetery, Union Avenue, Laconia, NH.
