George E. Butterworth, 84, of Unity, NH, passed away Monday June 24, 2024, in the Jack Byrne Center at Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center in Lebanon, NH. He was born on August 16, 1939, in Manchester, NH, a son of the late William and Nellie (Perkins) Butterworth and had been a resident of Unity for 35 years, formerly living in Londonderry for many years. George proudly served his country in the US Navy for four years. He loved the outdoors and was a member of a snowmobile club in Northern NH. He also loved antique tractors and had many farm animals over the years.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 65 years, Beverly (Boyle) Butterworth, one daughter, Kelly Abbott and husband Wayne, one son, Jeff Butterworth, a daughter-in-law, Patricia Butterworth, as well as many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He is also survived by three sisters, Nellie McMillan, Frances Asbjornsen, and Mary Curtis, one brother, Lenny McLaughlin, and several nieces, nephews, and extended family. He was predeceased by a son, David Butterworth, and a brother, William Butterworth.
Following cremation, memorial calling hours will be held on Friday June 28, 2024 from 5 – 7pm in the Peabody Funeral Homes and Crematorium, 290 Mammoth Road, Londonderry with Navy Military Honors to be presented at 6:45pm. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Jack Byrne Center at Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center.
