Anthony Cerra passed away peacefully at the Lowell General Hospital surrounded by the love of his family. He was 86. Born in Everett, Anthony was raised in Medford, the son of the late Joseph and Rose (Famiano) Cerra.
Upon completing high school, Anthony served in the US Air Force during the Vietnam era. After his honorable discharge he embarked in a long career in the electronics and military contractor industry. His management skills earned him much success with industry giants such as Raytheon, Digital and Mercury Computer. His position afforded him to travel the world representing the companies he worked for. Not only was he a big sports fan, he also enjoyed playing in the Burlington Men’s softball league. During his working years he earned his Bachelor’s Degree from Northeastern University in the evenings. He loved working in his yard keeping a beautiful lawn and garden. He was devoted to his family and gave his wife and sons the best he could. He was also devoted to his grandchildren, great-grandchildren, siblings and their families.
The beloved husband of Joanne (Tague) Cerra and was a devoted father to Anthony Cerra, Jr. and his wife Elizabeth, Joseph Cerra and his wife Sherry, and John Cerra. He was a loving grandfather to Felicia, Amanda, Katherine, Justin and Cody. He was a loving great-grandfather to Kayla, Madison and Isabella. Anthony was a dear brother to Lorraine O’Leary, Frances Amenta and the late Ronald and Richard Cerra. He also leaves many dear nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to visit at the Dello Russo Funeral Home, 306 Main St., Medford on Monday, July 1st from 11 AM to Noon with a prayer service in the funeral home at Noon. Burial will follow at Oak Grove Cemetery, Medford.
