THORNTON ---- Jeremiah “Jerry” T. McCarthy, 65, of Thornton, NH, and formerly of Nashua, NH, passed away on Sunday, June 23, 2024.
Jerry lived a full life and traveled the world as a merchant marine. Once retired, Jerry liked to stay put with his wife, often surrounded by his children and grandchildren.
Born in Taunton, MA, Jerry graduated from Bishop Guertin High School and Massachusetts Maritime Academy before embarking on a 20+ year career on the seas that brought him around the world. He retired as a Chief Engineer and moved to Thornton, NH, 14 years ago. A skilled craftsman, Jerry built beautiful additions to his home and was always willing to help friends, family and strangers with his unique talents. Smart as a whip, he would engage on any subject. Jerry sure did march to the beat of his own drum and is gone far too soon.
Jerry leaves behind his loving wife of 39 years, Jo Ann McCarthy (Clancy); sons Donovan McCarthy and his wife Kim, of Plymouth, NH, and Luke McCarthy and his partner Mary, of Hollis, NH; and daughter Bridget McCarthy, of Medford, MA. His grandchildren, Jackson, Preston, Liam and Juniper, brought him endless joy. Jerry is also survived by his two brothers, Dennis McCarthy, of Nashua, NH, and Kyle McCarthy, of Chalfont, PA; sister Meghan Whalen and brother-in-law Don, of Nashua, NH; mother Denise, of Nashua, NH; and numerous beloved grandchildren, nieces, nephews and brothers-in laws. Jeremiah is predeceased by his father Jeremiah B. McCarthy.
There will be no Calling Hours.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, June 27, 2024 at 11am at St. Christopher Church, 62 Manchester Street, Nashua, NH, which all friends and family are invited to.
In lieu of flowers, perform an act of kindness in Jerry's honor - as he was always willing to give the shirt off his back.
