Julia Evans Roland, 97, of Waverly, Georgia, formerly of Florence, South Carolina, died Friday, June 21, 2024, at Hospice of the Golden Isles.
Graveside services will be held 2 PM, Thursday, June 27, 2024, at Evergreen Cemetery, in Fitzgerald, Georgia, with Father Paul O’Connell officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
Mrs. Roland was born January 10, 1927 to the late Earl A. & Laura Deen Evans. She graduated from Fitzgerald High School and furthered her education at St. Elizabeth Hospital School of Nursing, in Dayton Ohio, Clemson University in Clemson, South Carolina, University of Texas and the University of South Carolina. Mrs. Roland was a member of several civic organizations, such as National Right to Life Board member, President of the Steering Committee, Republican Party of South Carolina, National Convention Delegate from 1996 to 2000, Silver Haired Legislature of South Carolina, Republican National Coalition for Life, Eagle Forum, Kidney Foundation of South Carolina, Clemson Extension Homemakers Club and Manna House. Mrs. Roland was of the Catholic faith.
She is survived by her son, David Earl Roland of Florence, South Carolina; grandchildren: Jennifer Roland, Jeffrey Roland & Candice Cornell and Russ Roland; great-grandchildren: Sonoma Jolley, Brantley Roland, Kiley Roland, Ave Cornell and Bodhi Roland; a cousin, Bobby & Patsy Douglas of Alma; and also, a niece, Debbie Evans Troupe & Jimmy of Fitzgerald. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, David Roland, a son, Charles Deen Roland and two brothers: Andrew Joe Evans and Charles “Sonny” Evans.
