Wendell Ray Pearson, 82, of Tifton passed away Saturday, June 22, 2024, at his residence surrounded by his family. A graveside funeral service will be held for Mr. Pearson at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, June 27, 2024, at Oak Ridge Cemetery, where he will be laid to rest. The Rev. Chip Grantham will officiate. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, June 26, 2024, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals.
Mr. Pearson’s grandsons, Pearson Futch, Ty Wood, Dan Wood, Matt Pearson, William Pearson and Adam Faulkner, will serve as pallbearers.
Born March 5, 1942, in Tifton, Mr. Pearson was the son of the late Clyde Wilbur Pearson and Carrie Smith Pearson. Before retiring, he was the owner of W.R. Pearson Construction, where he was a home builder for over 60 years and a master plumber. He was passionate about restoring many historic landmarks and often volunteered his building skills in his community. Wendell was a perfectionist in all aspects of his life, but his greatest blessings were his children and his grandchildren whom he loved spending his time with. His fondest memories were of the annual family vacations to Fernandina. His humor was contagious, and he loved making everyone in the room laugh. Wendell loved his bantam pet chickens and his hunting dogs. He was passionate about fishing and bird hunting, and he was an expert marksman.
Mr. Pearson is survived by the love of his life, his wife, Evelyn Warren Pearson of Tifton; one son and daughter-in-law, Dr. Robert Mark and Kim Pearson of Valdosta; three daughters and two sons-in-law, Eve and Allen Futch, Dawn and Brandon Faulkner and Mary Pearson Wood, all of Tifton; one brother and sister-in-law, Donald and Linda Pearson of Tifton; two sisters, Barbara Sumner of Enigma and Linda Hardy of Tifton; and ten grandchildren, Dr. Emily Futch (Thomas Spurlin), Sarah and Jacob Hanna, Anna Kate Pearson, Pearson Futch, Ty Wood, Matt Pearson, Dan Wood, William Pearson, Adam Faulkner and Ava Faulkner.
