Robert Scott Grimm, beloved husband, father, son, brother, and friend, passed away after a brave battle with cancer on Saturday, June 22, 2024, at the age of 63. Born in Kittery, Maine on May 8, 1961, but raised in Rockaway Beach, NY and Middletown, NY he leaves behind a legacy of love, dedication, and community spirit that will be remembered by all those he knew and impacted throughout his life.
Bob is survived by his devoted wife of 31 years, Jane, and their three children. His oldest son, Jackson Grimm, of Ogden, Utah, proudly follows in his father's footsteps, continuing his work in the TV news industry. His daughter, Lily Grimm, of Chester, NH, is a passionate teacher and serves as an assistant director at a learning center. His youngest son, Travis Scott Grimm, is currently furthering his education in Washington, D.C., with hopes of continuing his father’s legacy of public service. He is also survived by his loving younger sister and her husband, Randi and Tom Lorino of Charlotte, NC and his father and his wife, Wes and Jenny Grimm of Dallas, TX. He is also survived by his step-father, Roy Abramowitz of West Palm Beach, FL and his step-sister, Catrina Abramowitz of Winchester, VA. He was predeceased by his mother, Terri Abramowitz in 2022. He leaves behind a sister-in-law, brothers-in-law, and countless nieces and nephews who will miss him dearly.
After graduating from Middletown High School in 1979, Bob moved to New Hampshire to attend what is now Southern New Hampshire University, graduating in 1983, routinely visiting his hometown to volunteer his time to his community serving as a volunteer firefighter. Loving New Hampshire, he decided to settle down and create a life. At 32, he met his wonderful and loving wife Jane through a personal ad magazine and once married, moved to Chester, NH to start a family.
Bob had a strong love for our town, Chester, always participating in community events and supporting local initiatives. From his time on the Chester School Board to growing Chester Public Access Television, his dedication to his family and his community will be deeply missed. Robert was committed to all aspects of his life, including his work. From his twenty-year career at WMUR, which he began in his junior year of college to his tenure at Comcast, Bob was always proud of what he did. Bob also enjoyed being present in his children’s lives and enjoyed participating in their activities. He was proud of his children and proud to be a father. As a loving father, Bob made sure to put his children first and was incredibly supportive of all three. Proudly supporting their universities through his vast collections of hats, including the New England School of Communication, Granite State College, the University of New Hampshire, and American University. His hat collection spanned further than his children’s colleges and included homemade cricutted hats made by his wife, and yes, even a Yankees hat.
A service to celebrate Bob’s life will be held on Saturday, June 29, 2024 at 11am at Fellowship Bible Church, 48 Rod Gun Club Rd, Chester, with a luncheon to follow. Calling hours will be held on Friday, June 28th from 5pm-8pm at Peabody Funeral Home, 15 Birch Street, Derry.
