Marilyn Elaine ‘Mema’ (Thompson) Lord, 76 of Lowell, passed away peacefully on Friday, June 21, 2024 at Northwood Health Care Center, with her loving family by her side. She was the widow of the late John D. Lord who passed away in 2016. She passed away on what would have been their 58th wedding anniversary.
She was born in Hialeah, FL on November 1, 1947 and was a daughter of the late Edward G. And Marie (Moser) Thompson. She was raised in Hialeah, FL where she attended the area schools. In 1984 she relocated to Lowell, where she lived until her passing.
She had a unique sense of humor and a fiery personality. She was artistic, excelling in drawing and sculpting, and had a passion for gardening and antiquing. She enjoyed watching MASH, feeding the birds and snuggling with her cats. Above all else, spending time with her family brought her the most happiness.
Mema is survived by her children, Christine Lord of Lowell, Edward Lord of Lowell, John Lord, Jr. of Springfield; her daughter in law, Sheri Lord of Lowell; her son in law, John Loder; her 12 grandchildren, Sarah Lord, J.D. Lord, Michael Poirier, Jessica Lord, Matthew Lord, Marilyn Lord, Angelica Lord, Joseph Lord, Sidney Doucette, Brandon Lord, and Kristel Lord; her great grandchildren including, Sophie, Malana, Luke, Isaac, Joseph, Gabriel, Gage, Madison, Maya, Sean and Kalani.
She was also the mother of the late Joseph Lord; and grandmother of the late Joseph Paquin.

On Thursday, June 27, 2024 all are welcome to attend her calling hours from 10 a.m. - 12 noon at the McDonough Funeral Home, 14 Highland Street, Lowell 978-458-6816. Her funeral service will take place in the funeral home at 12 noon followed by burial at Westlawn II Cemetery in Lowell.
