Cecile Paulk Sumner, 78, of Ocilla, Georgia, died Friday, June 21, 2024, at her residence.
Funeral services will be held 3 PM, Monday, June 24, 2024, at Mt. Union Primitive Baptist Church in Ambrose, Georgia, with the Rev. Dr. Jeff Pangle officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service in the church sanctuary.
Mrs. Sumner was born June 23, 1945, in Ocilla to the late John Cecil and Marjorie Gay Paulk. Mrs. Sumner enjoyed working, and was part owner of Lil’ Pantry in Ocilla. She also worked for Harvey’s and Piggly Wiggly as a cashier. Her greatest love was her grandchildren, whom she would accompany on many camping trips. She was a member of Mt. Union Primitive Baptist Church.
She is survived by her two daughters, Gaya Simmons of Ocilla, and Amanda McIntyre & Paul of Irwinville; three grandchildren: Paulyna Pilcher & Shaw of Irwinville, James Simmons of Ocilla, and Brady McIntyre & Kayla of Irwinville; one great grandchild, Harlynn Pilcher of Irwinville, and one on the way, Memphis Grace Pilcher; a brother, Ron Paulk; as well as several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Alan Paulk and Bobby Paulk; and her beloved dog Roxie.
