Obituary

GILFORD ---- Allen Orey Weiss, 80, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, June 12, 2024.

Allen was born on June 10, 1944, in Brooklyn, NY, the son of the late Nathan Weiss and Ednah (Horowitz) Weiss.

Allen graduated from Swampscott High School in 1962. While living in Swampscott he met the love of his life, Carol. Allen and Carol would marry and spend the next 56 years together. Allen and Carol lived in Topsfield, MA with their family until 1991when they moved to Meredith, NH and then on to Gilford, NH.

Allen worked in the family business, L.B. Pennyworth’s for many years prior to a second career that included the Topsfield Collector Car Auctions and Essex Motor Car Company which operated in both Topsfield, MA and later in Gilford, NH. Allen was a reserve police officer for the town of Topsfield, MA for 20 years and was a 32 Degree Mason and a Shriner. His passion was antique and collector cars. He loved taking his family to the many car events held all over the country. He could often be seen cruising into local car shows in his original AC Cobra. Allen was also an avid HAM radio operator, call sign -K1GSU.

After retiring, Allen and Carol would split their time between summers in Gilford and winters in Florida. While Allen had many great accomplishments in life, his most proud accomplishment was his family. There was nothing that brought him more joy than spending time with his wife, children and grandchildren.

Allen is survived by his wife Carol (Blitt) Weiss and his 2 sons, Scott Weiss and his wife Rebecca of Meredith, NH, and Richard Weiss and his wife Monica, of Lake Mary, FL. He also leaves 4 grandchildren, Andrew, Evan, Alexia and Brooke Weiss and his brother Douglas Weiss of Las Vegas, NV.

Allen’s big heart, humble personality and kind soul will be missed by so many.

A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
