Daniel J. Thompson, age 49, of Pawtucket, formerly of Mansfield, passed away unexpectedly at Rhode Island Hospital, after being stricken ill at work, on Tuesday, June 18, 2024.
Born in Norwood, MA on April 16, 1975, he was a loving son of Karen A. (Dinger) Thompson-Springer and her life mate Robert Fanella of Cape Coral, Florida and the late Ralph G. Thompson.
Dan grew up and was educated in Mansfield and was a 1993 graduate of Southeastern Regional Vocational Technical High School in Easton. A skilled and knowledgeable mason, he was employed for the Local 3 Bricklayers and Allied Craftsman’s Union.
Danny’s family and friends were the focal point of his life and his son, who was truly his best friend, always came first. He enjoyed playing guitar and performing with local area bands. Dan treasured the times spent at his family’s cottage in Conway, New Hampshire and snowmobiling with friends, as a member of the Tarscrapers Snowmobile Club. His other hobbies included being an avid fisherman, as well as an ardent and diehard New England sports fan. While growing up in Mansfield, Dan and his family were active members of the Mansfield Congregational Church and he will always be remembered for the special place in his heart for animals.
He is survived by his devoted children: Gage A. Thompson and Chloe DiRusso and their mother Valerie Wendover. He was the dear and much-loved brother of Keri Rams and her husband Daniel of Cape Coral, Florida and the adoring uncle of Logan and Blake Rams. He is also survived by his cherished aunts, uncles, cousins, many-many treasured friends and his beloved fury friends: “Pip”, “Speck” and “Daisy”.
Relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend visiting hours on Saturday, June 29th from 2:00-5:00 P.M. at the Sherman & Jackson Funeral Home, 55 North Main Street, Mansfield. Burial will take place at a later date at Spring Brook Cemetery in Mansfield.
In lieu of flowers, Daniel’s family would greatly appreciate donations in his memory made to the Thompson Children’s Fund, and sent to North Easton Savings Bank, 71 Copeland Drive, Mansfield, MA 02048.
