Emily Phillips Salter, 84, of Tifton passed away Tuesday, June 18, 2024, at Pruitt Health in Ocilla. Her funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, June 22, 2024, in the Chapel of Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals with the Rev. John Hughes officiating. Mrs. Salter will be laid to rest at Oak Ridge Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Saturday, June 22, 2024, at Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals from 10:00 a.m. until the hour of the service.
Ben Salter, Alex Salter, Peyton Salter, Austin Tyson, Jimmy Folsom and Billy Hancock will serve as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be the Pink Ladies Auxiliary at Tift Regional Medical Center.
Born March 5, 1940, in Tift County, Mrs. Salter was the daughter of the late William Phillips and Lillian Smith Phillips. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Leroy Salter; one step-daughter, Jan Salter Peters; four brothers, James Phillips, Bobby Phillips, Gene Phillips and Jack Phillips; and three sisters. Elizabeth Folsom, Willene Hancock and June Phillips. Before retiring, she worked at Georgia Sports Medicine; and she attended Vanceville Congregational Christian Church. She also served as a Pink Lady at Tift Regional Medical Center.
Mrs. Salter is survived by two sons and one daughter-in-law, Phil and Debbie Salter of Tifton and Ed Salter of Chatham, Illinois; three step-sons, Don Salter of Mobile, Alabama, Darrell Salter of Albany and John Salter of Page, Arizona; one brother, Dan Phillips of Turner County; five grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
