“The king shall joy in thy strength, O Lord; And in thy salvation how greatly shall he rejoice! Thou hast given him his heart’s desire, And has not withholden the request of his lips. Selah.”

Joe Carter was born on August 12, 1941 in Sunflower, Mississippi to the parents of the late Reverend Robert and Florine Carter, he moved to Worcester, MA in the late 1960s where we raised his beloved family. Joe was a hard-worker and had a passion for providing for his family. He worked several years as a meat cutter at Chicago Beef and even talked about his employment as a gin mill operator in Mississippi. Joe enjoyed spending time with his family and leaves distinct memories with each of his children and grandchildren. He had a lifelong love for playing cards, studying the racehorses, dancing, and telling jokes and riddles. Some memories that are left stained in our hearts are his love for walking around the city of Worcester, collecting and recycling cans, rolling and cashing pennies, teaching us simply life lessons, and making us laugh. He will be remembered as a caring and loving man with a big heart who was very family oriented. Joe’s gentle spirit and generous heart touched the lives of everyone he met. His warm smile, caring nature, willingness to always give and help others brought comfort and joy to those around him, making him a cherished friend and confidant.

“For I am now ready to offered, and the time of my departure is at hand. I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith: henceforth there is a laid up for me a crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, shall give me at that day: and not to me only, but unto all them also that love his appearing.”
