Mrs. Dorothy T. (Riccio) Fortuna, a longtime resident of Andover and beloved wife of Edward L. Fortuna, passed away at the Lawrence General Hospital on Friday, June 7, 2024. She was 85 years old.
Born in Cambridge, Massachusetts, on February 20, 1939, she was the beloved daughter of the late George and Adelina (Bartolucci) Riccio. Dorothy had been employed as an Administrator for New England Neurological for more than 27 years. In her spare time, she enjoyed baking for her family, doing ceramics and visiting the beach. She also loved to go for long walks with her husband, Ed and visiting at Lake Willoughby, Vermont. Dorothy loved spending time with her children and grandchildren. She will be dearly missed.
She is survived by her beloved husband, Ed, her loving children; Denise A. and her husband Eric Preble of Virginia Beach, Virginia and Edward G. and his wife Suzanne Fortuna of Windham, New Hampshire, devoted sister, Gilda “Jill” McAveeney, cherished grandchildren; Jason Preble, and Evan and Luke Fortuna and many nieces and nephews.
Dorothy’s funeral service will be celebrated in the West Parish Garden Cemetery, 129 Reservation Road, Andover on Saturday, June 29, 2024, at 11am. Relatives and friends are most welcome to attend. Calling hours will be held in the chapel, prior to the service, from 9am to 11am. Interment will follow her service in the Polish National Cemetery in Methuen.
