Nancy C. Eames, 93
Dateline: Mansfield, MA
Nancy C. (Nelson) Eames, age 93, a lifelong resident of Mansfield, passed away on Wednesday, June 12, 2024 at Emerson Hospital in Concord. She was the beloved wife of the late Robert W. Eames and the late Guntis Reks.
Born in Boston, MA on June 19, 1930, she was a loving daughter of the late Osborne C. and Agnes A. (Johnson) Nelson.
Nancy grew up in town and was a graduate of Mansfield High School. She continued her studies, attending UMass Amherst and graduated from the Katharine Gibbs Business School. When younger, she worked at several law firms including Hutchins & Wheeler in Boston.
Following her marriage to Bob, Nancy joined her husband at the family business for Real Estate (Eames Agency) and later Insurance (Robert W. Eames Insurance Agency) on North Main Street in Mansfield. After Bob’s untimely death in 1976, she took over the ownership and day-to- day operations. She was a role model in being someone who cared deeply and worked hard to support peoples’ needs. Today, the agency is still a downtown Mansfield landmark, owned and operated by her son Scott R. Eames.
Nancy’s family whom she loved dearly, were always the focal point of her life. She loved continual contact and awareness of the lives of people close to her. Family gatherings, whether Swedish (Nelson/Johnson), English (Eames) or Latvian (Reks), were cherished. She enjoyed baking, golfing, swimming, ice skating and following the Boston sports’ teams.
She is survived by her devoted children: David N. Eames and his wife Chris of Brunswick, Maine, Joanne E. Neschke and her husband Chip of Harvard and Scott R. Eames of Mansfield. She was the cherished grandmother of Rob, Molly and Nat, Brendan, Kylie, Shannon, Robin, Sabine and Teague, Tommy, Brad, Connor and Evan, and the great grandmother of Lizzie, Xander and Riley. She was the dear sister of the late Carol Shaw and is also survived by her loving nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend visiting hours on Friday, June 21st from 5:00-8:00 P.M. at the Sherman & Jackson Funeral Home, 55 North Main Street, Mansfield. Burial will be held privately at the Spring Brook Cemetery in Mansfield.
