WEBSTER – James “Jim” W. D’Aprile, 68, died Thursday June 6, 2024 in Brigham & Women’s Hospital, Boston after being stricken ill at work.
Jim leaves a daughter, Kelly D’Aprile of Columbia, CT; a sister, Sandra “Sandy” D’Aprile and her husband, Gary Chad of Atlanta, GA; his longtime companion of 30 years, Catherine Fuller with whom he lived; her 3 daughters, Leah Bellavance of Boxboro, Alyssa MacGlashing and her husband Jake of Rye, NH; Christine Bellavance of Mansfield and her boyfriend Steve Maguire; and her 4 grandchildren who called him “Grampy”, Emma, Ainsley, Cora, and Adelyne “Addy”; as well as many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Jim was born on July 21, 1955 in Rochester, NY to James S. D’Aprile and Gertrude “Gaye” D’Aprile. He graduated from Manchester (CT) High School in 1973. Having narrowly missed the draft during the Vietnam War, he joined the US Navy the same year, serving for 6 years. After his service, he returned to his home state of Connecticut and eventually settled in Massachusetts, calling Webster his home for 22 years.
Jim began his career at the Bank of New England, transitioning to Fleet Bank in 1991 as Vice President of self-service/ATM banking technology when Fleet acquired his former employer. He was crucial in the introduction of Web technologies into Fleet’s ATM machines. Due to yet another banking acquisition by Bank of America in 2003, he moved on to a Senior Vice President role in the eCommerce/ATM division, retiring in 2005. He then worked in the landscaping industry for over 15 years, currently with NatureWorks Landscaping of Walpole, MA.
He had a love of horticulture, gardening, and designing his own home
landscape.
A celebration of his life will be held at a later date. Arrangements are under the direction of Scanlon Funeral Service, 38 East Main Street.
