Mary "Mimi" W. Littas of Weston, Ma. passed peacefully the evening of June 11, 2024. Mimi is the beloved wife of Costa Littas, mother of Ayden, Lauren and through marriage of Meredith, Jennifer and Nicholas. She is the beloved sister of Pierce, Tom and Robert McDowell and sister-in law of Barbara, Susan, Linda, Marina and Eugenia. She was beloved by over a dozen nieces and nephews.
Mimi was proud of her South Dakota roots where she was born and raised in Sioux Falls. It was there that she was formed largely through the love of her parents Pierce and Constance McDowell and a multi-generational network of family and friends. She was equally proud of her memories learning ballet and a hole in one during spring high school golf team competition played in the snow.
After graduation from Nebraska University in Fashion Design, she followed her older brothers' footsteps to Southern California. But instead of returning home to South Dakota as they had after a few years, she remained in San Diego for over two decades working in the technology services industry and playing an important role in several successful startups. Mimi was engaged in charitable and civic organizations in the area as well . She always felt that her most important legacy during those years was the wonderful group of close friendships she created that continue to this day.
In 2008, after marriage, she relocated to Boston, a city she came to truly love. In 2010 she became a mother for the first time followed by another child two years later. Like her own mother, it was a role she adored. She was an engaged, loving, and fun parent, not only for her own children but all their friends. Mimi remained active in charitable activity focusing principally on Children's Hospital in Boston. And as in the past, she naturally created a broad group of new deep friendships which she cherished across the city.
Mimi radiated warmth, kindness and love throughout her life. Despite a year long struggle with brain cancer she never compromised her inner spirit or her strong catholic faith. She filled her 57 years with joy and invested relationships and those people she touched, that will never forget her, stretch from coast to coast.
Relatives and friends are kindly invited to a funeral Mass for Mimi in St. Julia Church, 374 Boston Post Road, Weston on Wednesday, June 19, at 10AM and a reception to follow. Visiting hours and interment private to family.
