Obituary

Nancy Ann (Gaccione) Cosenza, 91, of Lighthouse Point FL passed away June 11th in Broward Health North Hospital.

She is survived in death by her daughter Christine (Cosenza) Schmieder and her husband Herbert of Deerfield Beach, FL. Her son Albert Joseph Cosenza Jr. and his wife Caryn (Latoure) Cosenza of Jefferson, Ma. And Fort Myers, Fl, her granddaughter Grace Cathryn Cosenza of Marlboro, Ma., a sister Natalie (Gaccione) Parise of Westerly, RI. As well as many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Albert Joseph Cosenza Sr. and daughter Joanne (Cosenza)Rigg.
She was born in Westerly, RI, the daughter of the late Michael Gaccione and Margaret (Fuscaldo) Gaccione. She moved to Worcester when she and Albert married in 1955. She was an active member of Our Lady of Loreto Church and the Knights of Columbus Woman’s Auxiliary. She was an avid candlepin bowler and played in many leagues including Mt. Caramel Church with her daughter Christine. She was a homemaker and mother for many years before going to work for the Worcester School System. Upon her retirement, she and Albert moved to Lighthouse Point.
She was very active in her condominium community. She was involved in every activity the condo’s hosted. Whether it was water aerobics, bingo, arts and crafts, and many more, Nacy was always the first to participate. Her favorite being miniature golf in which she excelled. She won many awards and trophies for this sport. She also whipped her son Albert when he recently visited her. She was also an obsessed New York Yankees fan (which annoyed her daughter Christine, a diehard Red Sox fan) to no end. Nancy never missed a Yankee game and always claimed Derek Jeter as her boyfriend. Her next biggest passion was St. Jude Research Center for Children. Nancy was a "Partner in Hope" for many years.
She was also a dedicated member of St. Paul the Apostle Church in Lighthouse Point. Family and friends were the utmost important to her, and she will be sorely missed by all who knew and loved her.
Relatives and friends are invited to Nancy’s visitation on Wednesday June 19, 2024 at FAZIO FUNERAL HOME, 9 Branch Street Worcester from 4:00pm to 7:00pm. Her Funeral Mass will take place on Thursday, June 20th at Our Lady of Loreto-Mt Carmel Church at 10:00am. Interment will follow in Notre Dame Cemetery.
