FALL RIVER…Laurent Lavoie (95) a proud lifetime resident of Fall River passed away peacefully after a brief illness at Charlton Memorial Hospital in Fall River on Wednesday June 5, 2024, with his loving family by his side.
Laurent was the son of the late Dominic and Maria (Heroux) Lavoie, and he was predeceased in life by his longtime companion Alice Clement, his two sons Charles Lavoie, and John Lavoie. His brother Jean Lavoie, and three sisters Yvette Correiro, Gilberto Stewart, and Martha Desrosiers, Bernard Lavoie, Jean Edward Lavoie, Lina Lavoie, Helene Costa.
Laurent leaves a legacy of love, memories, and happiness with his daughter Diane Bernier of Westport, MA, 6 grandchildren, many great grandchildren, his siblings, Ferdinand Lavoie of Westport, MA, Gertrude Lavoie of Warwick, RI, and Denise Vieira of Raynham, MA
Laurent was a proud and honorable man, he enlisted into the United States Navy during the conflicts of World War II to protect and defend the constitution at home and abroad, and he had done that valiantly earning an honorable discharge from the United State Military. Following Laurent’s military service, he was employed by Globe as a Rubber worker for 40 years up until his retirement in 1990.
Laurent had many hobbies and past times, but he could always be found tinkering away with projects at home, using his skills with woodwork to build and create anything that was needed, planting, growing, and maintaining his gardens. Everyone knew that anything Laurent could get his hands on he could fix, build, or grow. He was also a proud member and representative of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post (VFW) #5392 in Tiverton, Rhode Island.
The family would like to graciously thank everyone for their amazing care of Laurent in his final days, and at the request of the family and keeping with Laurent’s wishes his services are private and humbly entrusted to Southcoast Funeral Home, 1555 Pleasant Street, Fall River, MA.
