Obituary

Raymond Allen Rowe, lovingly known as Ray, passed away at home on June 8, 2024, at the age of 79. He was born on December 24, 1944, to the late Elizabeth Rowe in Orange, New Jersey. Raymond spent the greater portion of his life in Southern California.
Raymond had a zest for life and enjoyed various hobbies. He was an avid bowler and roller skater, finding joy in these activities. Raymond cherished the company of his good friends and loved listening to music. He had a particular fondness for his turkey sandwich from Subway, insisting on only two tomatoes.
As a child, Raymond found contentment near the water. He would often run away to be by the ocean and go swimming. Throughout his adult life, he enjoyed taking walks on the beach and collecting seaglass. He spent Saturday mornings at the Ventura Harbor, assisting the fisherman at the weekly fish and seafood market.
Raymond dedicated over 20 years of his professional life as a bellman at the Miramar Sheraton Hotel in Santa Monica. Prior to that, he worked in various capacities, including factory work and construction.
In his downtime, Raymond found relaxation in watching his favorite TV shows, particularly westerns like "Bonanza" and game shows like "Let's Make a Deal." He loved the game of basketball and was a huge Lakers fan.
Raymond will be fondly remembered for his punctuality. He was always the first one up in the morning, even as a child. His motto was, "If you're early, you're on time. If you're on time, you're late!"
In 1973, Raymond met the love of his life, Helen, at a party. They shared over 42 years of marriage together, with their first date taking place at the Hollywood Hills home of the famous singer, Dionne Warwick.
Raymond was not only committed to his family, but also to giving back to the community. He volunteered at Food Share, making a positive impact on the lives of those in need.
Raymond is preceded in death by his mother, Elizabeth Rowe, and his brothers, Quinton Rowe and Harry Rowe. Raymond is survived by his devoted wife, Helen, and their daughter, Felicia Rowe. He is also survived by his former wife, Sharon Jenkins, and their daughter, Erika Rowe, along with her husband, Larry Spratley. Raymond's three grandsons, Jordan Williams, Xavier Diaz, and Pierce Rowe, held a special place in his heart. Additionally, he is survived by his brother, Ronald Rowe, along with his wife, Lorraine Rowe; his sister, Cheryl Harris; and loving nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Raymond Allen Rowe will be deeply missed and forever remembered for his punctuality, love for the water and music, and dedication to his family and community.
