Obituary

LACONIA ---- Robert ‘Bob’ Gerald Timmins, 76, of Hayes Road, passed away at his home on the morning of Thursday, June 6, 2024, after a long illness. In his final days and hours, Bob was surrounded by his loving family members.

Bob was born to Patricia (Eleanor) Langerfeld Timmins and Robert Timmins Sr., in Manhattan in 1948 and grew up in Maywood, New Jersey.

His family owned a restaurant in Manhattan called Ye Olde Dutch Tavern. Bob worked there from a young age where he gained great skills in cooking; and an incredible work ethic which he instilled in his children and grandchildren. He worked as a chef in multiple restaurants before becoming an entrepreneur in 1978 with the opening of a flower shop in Kittery, Maine.
Bob moved to Laconia in the 80s, where he established successful businesses Jessie’s Wholesale and Jolly Jays Joke Shop. He loved motorcycles from a young age and built award winning bikes, he was known to his brothers as Flower Bob. He loved riding his motorcycle to the Blessing of the Bikes with his wife and youngest daughter.

Bob had a special way of bringing together people of all backgrounds. You could often find lawyers and people in need sitting together at his dinner table enjoying Sunday dinner with his family. He held a dear place in his heart for animals, his children and grandchildren often referred to him as the animal whisperer.

Later in life Bob started tapping trees and making his own maple syrup, a hobby he enjoyed teaching his children and grandchildren. Bob was an avid coin collector and loved showing his collection to his grandchildren. Family always came first to Bob, and he enjoyed nothing more than spending time with them.

Bob was a friend of Bill W and dedicated advocate for sober living, he gave much of his time to speak to inmates at the county jail about addiction and how he came to believe in a Higher Power.

From a young age he loved deep sea fishing and later on in life would deep sea fish with his brother-in-law Chris, his son in laws, grandson and friends on the Bunny Clark off the coast of Maine. Wells, Maine held a very special place in his heart, where he married the love of his life Donna and vacationed there with his wife, children, grandchildren and friends each year. A private celebration of life will be held there late August with his loved ones.

Tremendous and heartfelt thanks go to the nurses at Granite VNA; and to Grammy Bunny who became one of his dearest friends, who provided more than care and love, and ensured Bob and Donna had peace and compassion in the final season of his life.

Bob is survived by his beloved wife of 32 years, Donna (Richardson) Timmins, sons Jeremiah Timmins and his wife Courtney and Caleb Timmins and his wife Jenny, daughters Jessie Laflower, Kelsey Ramirez and her husband Roman, Jessica Swenson and her partner Ryan Marceau, Rachyll Minor and her husband Shawn and Heather Doyle and her partner Kolby Luethje, twelve grandchildren, Logan, Amber, Aaron, Bryan, Autumn, Charles, William, Esperanza, Eleanor, Lucia, Ophelia, and Maria, and mother in law Bunny Blais.

A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
