Herbert T. MacMillan, a resident of Danvers, Massachusetts passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on Wednesday, June 5, 2024 . He was 87 years old.
Born in Melrose, Massachusetts, on September 10, 1936, he was the son of the late Chester and Martha (Taylor) MacMillan. A graduate of Punchard High School Andover, Massachusetts. He attended Lowell Technical Institute receiving a degree in Mechanical Engineering pursuing a career in the Plastics Industry. Having an extensive knowledge of molding processes, he started his own business “Process Technology Service” of Scottsdale, Arizona, providing training seminars traveling to companies throughout the United States and other parts of the world. Herb was a former member of The Clan MacPherson Bagpipe Band, Lawrence Massachusetts. In addition he worked with his father manufacturing bagpipes in the early 1960’s.
Herb enjoyed his retirement years in a warmer climate – Phoenix, Arizona. He then relocated and established residence in Danvers, Massachusetts and enjoyed watching his grandchildren participate in various sport activities. He also enjoyed cooking and prepared some fantastic dishes.
Herb is survived by his loving children: Lisa and wife Crystal of Danvers, Gregg and his wife Vanessa of Phoenix, Arizona; brother John of Danvers. Grandchildren include; Weston, Charlotte, Yvonne of Danvers; Derek of Haverhill and great grandchildren; Chase and Emmy, along with several nieces and nephews. Herb was pre-deceased by brothers Donald MacMillan and James MacMillan.
Herbert’s funeral service will be celebrated in the Burke-Magliozzi Funeral Home, 390 N. Main Street, Andover on Monday, June 10 at 6 PM. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited.
