Mary Ellen Timbol, 76, of North Smithfield, passed away in her home surrounded by her family on Saturday, June 1st. She was the wife of the late Daniel J. Timbol. They had been married for nearly 53 years.
Born in Boston, MA, a daughter of the late James and Congetta (Casieri) Doody, she had lived in North Smithfield, previously living in Palm Coast, FL, Gaithersburg, MD, and Washington, DC. Mary Ellen was a 1965 graduate of Western High School, in Washington, DC.
She worked for many years at Georgetown University in many roles for many departments including The Kennedy Institute of Ethics, the Graduate School, and the Office of the Provost. Later, she worked at Holy Trinity Catholic Church until retirement.
Mary Ellen had many interests throughout her life including traveling, camping, tai chi, music, dancing, cooking, and spending time with her family. She especially loved having such a close relationship with her grandchildren.
She is survived by her daughter, Andrea Timbol, of North Smithfield, sister, Jane Nauman of Gaithersburg, MD, grandchildren Madeline, Marleia, and Logan LaTour, nieces, Tiffany and Tracey Nauman, and countless cousins. She was the mother of the late Kristen LaTour and Meredith Timbol.
A Memorial Mass to which relatives and friends are invited will be held on Friday June 14th at 10am in St. Michael’s Church, 80 Farnum Pike, Smithfield. Internment will follow in Highland Memorial Park, Johnston.
