SCARBOROUGH- Robert William Nixon, 76, of Scarborough, Maine, died on June 5, 2024, at Gosnell Memorial Hospice House in Scarborough.
Robert was born in Pretoria, South Africa, in 1947, to John and Molly Nixon. He worked for the Natal Building Society for many years prior to retiring. He also served in the South African Defense Force as a captain in the Signals Corps. After moving to the United States, Robert worked at Walmart as a cashier, where he was loved by all the old ladies who would wait in line for him to process their purchases, even if other cashier’s were available.
Rob was preceded in death by his parents, John and Molly Nixon, and his sister, Bernice Jacobs. He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Doreen May Helen Nixon; his children, and their families: Oldest daughter Debra and her son's Matthew and Brandon, His son Shaun and his wife Susan, and their sons John and Braiden, and his youngest daughter, Kerri.
A memorial service will be held at Chad E. Poitras Cremation and Funeral Service\ Chapel, 498 Long Plains Rd (Rt. 22), Buxton, ME on Friday the 7th of June 2024 at 4:00 PM, presided over by Pastor Bill Foss of Harvest Church.
