Obituary

PORTER- It is with profound sadness that we announce the unexpected passing of Duane Joseph Avery, who departed from this world on June 3, 2024 at his home in Porter, ME. Duane was born on May 2, 1975 to his loving parents, John Avery and Terry Leonhartt (Avery) in Rochester, NY.

Duane spent his formative years in Stockton, CA attending Lincoln High School. After many years of entrepreneurship on the west coast, working for himself doing odd jobs, he moved to Maine.. In 2008 he took a job at Green Mountain Treatment Center in Effingham, NH. After years in the medical field he decided to go work as a general contractor at BullbearConstruction in So. Portland until he had the opportunity to go work for Bath Iron Works in 2020 and become a welder. He enjoyed his job and all his colleagues.

On September 23, 2023, Duane married his lovely wife Tiffany Chapman, Porter, ME. Duane enjoyed their life and adventures together. She changed his mind about marriage as many of his friends and family thought he would be a bachelor forever.

His comical nature was a thing of wonder. He had a way of making even the most mundane tasks seem like an adventure, of turning any situation into an opportunity for laughter and fun. His humor was infectious, his wit sharp and quick. He was a master of mischief, always ready with a prank or a clever joke to lift the spirits of those around him.

In his leisure time, Duane enjoyed a variety of hobbies and interests that brought him joy and fulfillment. He cherished spending time with friends and family, organizing playdates with his nieces and nephews, watching horror movies, listening to loud music, also pursuing his passion for photography. He also enjoyed dancing, off-roading, staying updated on the latest technology trends, and embarking on adventurous road tripswith his wife.

Duane leaves behind a legacy of love and cherished memories. He was preceded in death by his father, John Avery,andstepfather, Charles Barsanti. He is survived by his beloved wife, Tiffany Avery, of Porter, ME; his son, Dylan Joseph Avery Bailey of Bath, ME; as well as his mother, Terry Leonhartt, of Porter, ME; and a large and loving family. Duane is remembered fondly by his sister, Dori Barsanti of Westbrook, ME; brother, Cesar Avery, and his wife, Kerry Mack,of New York, NY; sister, Kelly Brophy, and her husband, Brian of Lockeford, CA; sister, Andrea Hitchcock, and her husband, Mike of Eugene, OR; sister, Bobbi Dikeman, and her husband, Tony of West Baldwin, ME; and brother, Philip Barsanti, and his wife, Jeni of Porter, ME. Duane was a devoted uncle to all his nieces and nephews - Ricky, Savannah, Brylee, Keean, Malcolm, Kellan, Avery, Austin, Owen, Arianna, Izabel, Andrew, Charles, Makenzie, Landon, and great-nephew, Jace.

A Celebration of Duane's life will be held on June 29, 2024, at 2:00 PM at Duane and Tiffany’s home, 215 First County Road, Porter, ME. Duane will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
