CHICOPEE – Vinal W. Kenneson, Jr., 92, of the Fairview section of Chicopee, was Called Safely Home on Friday, May 31, 2024. He passed into Eternal Life at his home surrounded by the care and comfort of his loving family. He was born at home on Silver Street in Plymouth, Connecticut on September 24, 1931, a beloved son of the late Vinal W. Kenneson Sr. and Constance J. (Boulier) Kenneson. He was raised and educated in Plymouth and received his Bachelor of Science from Springfield College and moved to Chicopee in 1965 where he lived the remainder of his life. He was a 20 year veteran who served his country during both the Korean and Vietnam Wars in the United States Air Force and attained the rank of Master Sergeant. He was the longtime Program Director at the Boys and Girls Club of Chicopee. He was a communicant of Saint Anne Church in Chicopee. Vinal enjoyed painting beautiful pictures as well as woodworking, and couldn’t resist trying his luck on scratch tickets. Most of all, he loved to spend time with his family and friends. He was predeceased by his beloved wife and best friend, Myra M. (Courchane) Kenneson who was Called Home on January 24, 2024. They were married on December 27, 1950 and were blessed with over 73 years of happiness. He leaves his six loving and devoted children, Rodney J. Kenneson and his wife, Gayle, of South Hadley, Robert M. Kenneson and his wife, Donna, of Belchertown, Cheryl A. LeMay and her husband, Robert, Jeanne L. Riley and her husband, Kevin, and Tina L. Riley and her husband, Michael, all of Chicopee, and Paula M. Moson and her husband, Raymond, of Belchertown; his 13 cherished grandchildren; his 21 cherished great grandchildren; his dear sisters, Ella Arseneau and her husband, Rudy, of Connecticut and Doris Wallace and her husband, Robert of Arizona; and his many dear nephews, nieces, cousins, extended family members and friends. In addition to his parents and wife, he was predeceased by his four dear siblings, Philip, Milton, Connie, and Marie. Family and friends are invited to attend his Committal Service with United States Air Force Military Honors on Tuesday, June 11, 2024 at 2 p.m. in the Chapel at the Massachusetts Veterans’ Memorial Cemetery, 1390 Main Street, Agawam, MA 01001.
