Obituary

MEREDITH ---- Geneva Lorine Bartlett passed away peacefully Monday, June 3, 2024, at her home with her daughters Theresa and Mona providing love and comfort to the very end.

She was born in Pineville, KY, the second oldest of five children of Rose and Susie (Ely) Rice. Known as Lorine to many of her friends and community, and Grammy, Auntie Rene and Rene by family.

Geneva worked in many capacities over the years. Together, with her husband Ray, they built, owned and operated the Sugar Hill Mobile Home Park. In addition, Geneva had earned her LNA certificate and worked at the Peabody Home and for NANA within the healthcare community and locally at the First National Store and Bristol Bank. After selling the Mobile Home Park, she and Ray obtained their Real Estate licenses and open Select Properties in Bristol.

Active in the Bristol community where she and Ray raised their family. Geneva served as a Girl Scout leader when her girls were young, was a member of Enterprise Rebekah Lodge #46 and at the Bristol Baptist Church, where she belonged to the Fidelis Ladies and served on other committees.

Geneva was a voracious reader, she also enjoyed knitting and sewing. She had an amazing power of concentration, allowing her to work or read through any distractions. She had an amazing green thumb. In her younger years, she canned garden produce from both her gardens and her neighbors. After retirement, she took up flower gardening more intensely and enjoyed making the many flower gardens around her home blossom with a variety of beautiful plants.

Family members include two daughters, Theresa (Robert) Simkevich of Londonderry, NH and Mona Hoefs, of Meredith, NH; grandchildren, Christopher (Lauren) Hoefs, Kate (Britton) Lane, and Rachel Simkevich; two great-grandsons, Everett and Hudson Lane; brother Rose (Merry) Rice of Allenstown, NH; sister Roxie “Eathel” (Alex) Pallas, of Tempe, AZ; and many well-loved nieces and nephews.
