HELEN LOUISE (KUNKLE) GREENE OBITUARY

Helen Louise (Kunkle) Greene, 89, of Clymer, PA went to her Heavenly Father on June 2, 2024, just five days before her 90th birthday.

Born June 7, 1934, to Floyd I. and Alice “Bernice” (Wellen) Kunkle in Homer City, PA.

Helen was a 1952 graduate of Green Township High. She married Thomas A. Greene, Jr. on November 15, 1953. They raised four children in Dixonville, and then moved to Tom’s family farm where they spent the remainder of their days. They enjoyed nearly 63 years together until Tom’s passing in 2016.

Helen wore many hats to support her family; she was a homemaker and bookkeeper for the family business, Greene Masonry. She was actively involved and interested in politics and at the local level, served on the Green Township election board for many years.

Helen was a pillar of love and support for all in need. Her grandchildren fondly remember the investment that she made in each of their lives by spending time with them, celebrating their accomplishments; and providing a hug and thoughtful advice during challenging times. Helen opened her heart and home to more than 15 foster children, providing them with the same loving, supportive environment in which she had raised her own children and grandchildren. She was truly Grandma to Michael Laverick; Roger and Ronald Fouse; Tracey and Michael Fields; and Cody, Crystal, and Devin Campagna. She was always fully stocked with hugs and lollipops for her great-grandchildren. She had a kind word and opened arms for everyone she met.

Her life revolved around her family and her faith. Helen was a devoted Christian and a member of the Purchase Line Church of The brethren. Before her health declined, she served as a Deaconess and on various church commissions. Helen also served the Lord for many years as both a Sunday School and Bible School teacher. She was also a member of the Gideons.

Helen is survived by four children, Sandra Fyock (David); Thomas III (Paula Lloyd); Diane Fenton (Jeffrey); and James (Pastor Jackie); her brother, F. Michael Kunkle (Denise); brother-in-law, John Greene (Dora); and sisters-in-law Virginia Ankele and Barbara Greene.

She is also survived by her grandchildren, Christina Neblett (Chris); Jeffrey Fenton, Jr. (Juline); Nathan Greene (Angie Dillon); Kara Hobbs (Darien); Brittany Bopp (Russell); Courtney Blose (Bo); and David Jacob Fyock (Marley) and twelve great-grandchildren, Cora and Owen Neblett; Isaac and Elijah Fenton; Tucker and Layla Greene; Adrien and Caroline Hobbs; Rowan and Harper Bopp; and Raela and Ezlee Blose.

In addition to her husband and parents, Helen was preceded in death by a grandson, Mason Greene; brothers, Fred and Richard Kunkle; a sister, Donna Greene; and numerous brothers and sisters-in-law.

Helen’s sweet, kind soul will be deeply missed by all who knew her. Her passing leaves an enormous gap in the hearts of her family and friends. Her family extends their gratitude to Helen’s pastors: Pastor Dale Leverknight and Pastor Paul Wallace.

Family and friends will be received from 2-4:00 and 6-8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, June 5, 2024 at the Rairigh Funeral Home, Ltd. in Hillsdale, PA. Visitation will also take place from 1-2:00 p.m. on Thursday, June 6, 2024 at the Purchase Line Church of The Brethren, 3711 Purchase Line Road, Clymer, PA, where a 2:00 p.m. funeral service will be held at the church immediately following the visitation. Her daughter-in-law Pastor Jackie Greene will officiate. Interment will follow at Ruffner Cemetery, Tanoma Road, Clymer, PA.
