Andrew Joe Evans, 83, of Waverly, Georgia, died Sunday, June 2, 2024, at Hospice of the Golden Isles in Brunswick, Georgia.
Graveside services will be held 2 PM, Wednesday, June 5, 2024, at Evergreen Cemetery, in Fitzgerald, Georgia. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the services at The Paulk Funeral Home in Fitzgerald, Georgia.
Mr. Evans was born June 10, 1940, in Fitzgerald, Georgia, to the late Earl Alexander & Laura Beatrice Deen Evans. He graduated from Fitzgerald High School in 1958 and served his country honorably in the United States Navy for three years. Mr. Evans received an Associates of Science Degree from Southern Tech. He worked for Georgia Power and was a signal manager for ACL Railroad. He enjoyed crab fishing and was of the Catholic faith.
He is survived by his sister, Julia A. Roland of Waverly; a niece, Debbie Troupe & Jimmy of Fitzgerald and a nephew, David Earl Roland of Florence, South Carolina. Several cousins also survive including Bobby & Patsy Douglas of Alma. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Charles “Sonny” Evans and a nephew, Charles Deen Roland.
Paulk Funeral Home, Fitzgerald, is in charge of arrangements.
