Obituary

Michaelina R. Lumenello, age 101, passed away peacefully on Friday, May 31, 2024, at Lowell General Hospital with her family by her side. She was the beloved widow of Vincent J. Lumenello, who preceded her in death in 2011 after 63 years of marriage.

Born on May 5, 1923, in Lowell, Michaelina was the daughter of the late Vito and Nicolina (Di Prenda) Cirasella. She grew up in Lowell and graduated with honors from Lowell High School.

Michaelina worked as the manager of Stanley Home Products and, in her retirement, enjoyed her role as a cashier at the Owl Diner for many years. She had a passion for crocheting and generously made numerous blankets for the Immaculate Conception Church Sodality, which were distributed to those in need.

Deeply involved in the local Italian community, Michaelina played a key role in the Italian American Club and was instrumental in the creation of the Italian American Community Memorial Plaque, dedicated on October 12, 1987. She was also a longtime member of the former Middlesex Women's Club.

Michaelina is survived by her three sons, Michael Lumenello and his wife Maria of Lowell, Kevin Lumenello and his wife Therese of Nottingham, NH, and Christopher Lumenello of Dracut. She also leaves behind eight grandchildren: Andrea Larkin and her husband Steven of Canton, Jason Lumenello of Smithfield, RI, Stephanie Taylor of Hudson, NH, Alyson Lumenello of Lowell, Christina Knox and her husband Matthew of Boylston, MA, Nicholas Lumenello and his wife Diana of Biddeford, ME, Kevin Lumenello of Lewiston, ME, and Alexander Lumenello of Ogunquit, ME; as well as eight great-grandchildren: Anthony, Nicholas, Christopher, and Ava Larkin, Emily Lumenello, Olivia Conrad and her husband John, and Vivian and Matthew Taylor; and her great-great-grandson Logan Keppler.

She is also survived by her sister Emma Fried of Lowell, many nieces and nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews, and countless friends.

Michaelina was predeceased by her grandchildren Matthew and Christian Lumenello; her siblings Cathleen Perrault, Josephine Ouellette, Rita Lecuyer, Adeline Cirasella, Mary Greco, and Anthony Cirasella; and her brothers-in-law Robert Lumenello and Kenneth Lumenello.

HER FUNERAL MASS WILL TAKE PLACE AT 1PM THE IMMACULATE CONCEPTION CHURCH, 144 EAST MERRIMACK STREET, LOWELL, FOLLOWED BY BURIAL IN SAINT MARY CEMETERY, TEWKSBURY.
