Obituary

Pauline G. Horent, 94, of Woonsocket passed away peacefully surrounded by the love of her family and supported by constant prayer Friday evening May 31, 2024 at Overlook Health Care Center in Pascoag. She was the loving wife of the late Lucien Fernand Horent. They were married on June 16, 1951 at Precious Blood Church and shared over 27 years together until his passing in November of 1978. Although widowed at an early age Pauline bravely continued with her life, cherished his memory and carried their love in her heart for the remainder of her days.

Born and raised in Woonsocket she was the daughter of the late Rodolphe and Aurore (Beaudreau) Desaulniers. She was a lifelong resident of the city. Pauline was raised in Precious Blood Parish and was a graduate of St. Clare High School with the class of 1948. While at St. Clare Pauline took lessons and instruction in vocals from the late Mother St. Jean, RJM who recognized the talent and beauty of Pauline’s voice.

Pauline went on to receive training in bookkeeping and accounting. She was employed at Park Square Pharmacy and Precision Products for many years before retiring.

Pauline’s Catholic faith was the foundation of her life. Pauline was a longtime parishioner of Holy Family Parish and in recent years she was a communicant of St. Ambrose Parish and attended daily Mass for as long as she was able.

Pauline will be remembered as a friendly and outgoing lady. Her family and their activities were at the center of her life. Her role as a mother, Memere and Great-Memere meant everything to her. Pauline was an excellent cook, which she learned from her mother. Between cooking for the annual clambakes, the holidays, or Sunday dinner with her family her love of cooking was apparent. Pauline exercised her green thumb in her garden or just as easily got lost in the deep pages of a good book as a way to relax and unwind. She also took many memorable trips with her family and friends including destinations in Europe and as far as Hawaii.

The beautiful voice Pauline was blessed with was indeed a gift from God she so generously shared with everyone. She was a member of the Holy Family and St. Charles parish choirs. She was a well-known and sought after soloist at many other area parishes where she sang for weddings, funerals, and other liturgical events. She was also a member of the Veritones music group and the Beethoven Club for many years.

Pauline is survived by her two daughters Louise Felice and her husband James "Jim" Felice and Marguerite Horent all of Woonsocket and her son Rene Horent and his wife Nancy of Chepachet. Pauline was the proud Memere of her grandchildren Christopher, Matthew, Kate, Danielle, Alissa and Jarred and her many great-grandchildren. She was the sister of Charles “Charlie” Desaulniers and Lucille Soucy both of Woonsocket and the late Andre Desaulniers, Marguerite Solon, and Therese Bergeron. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews and their families.
Everyone will gather to honor, remember, and pray for Pauline at her funeral Saturday June 8th 2024 at 9:00 am from the Menard-Lacouture Funeral Home, 127 Carrington Ave. Woonsocket followed by a Mass of Christian Burial 10:00 am in St. Ambrose Church on School St. in Albion. Pauline will be laid to rest alongside her beloved husband Lucien at St. Jean Baptiste Cemetery in Bellingham. Visiting hours are Friday from 4-7 pm.
