Obituary

Mary Oceline Watson Brooks, 88, of Norman Park passed away Sunday, June 2, 2024, at her residence. Her funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, June 4, 2024, in the Chapel of Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals with the Rev. Ike Branch and the Rev. Doug Walls officiating. Mrs. Brooks will be laid to rest at Paulk’s Chapel Cemetery in Worth County. The family will receive friends on Monday, June 3, 2024, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals.

Owen Hale, Colyn Hale, John Walls, Henry Walls, Brayden Erskine and Jaylen Shealey will serve as pallbearers.

Born August 11, 1935, in Anderson City, Mrs. Brooks was the daughter of the late Bartow Green Watson and Pauline Tompkins Watson. She was also preceded in death by her husband of 58 years, Commer Lee Brooks, Sr.; two sisters, Louise Hamm and Ivlyn Tanner; and six brothers, Roscoe Watson, Hubert Watson, Grady Watson, Ernest Watson, Gordon Watson and David Watson. Before retiring, she was a microfilm technician at Tift Regional Medical Center. She loved her family and she loved to travel. She also loved to fish and collect salt and pepper shakers and teapots. She enjoyed dressing up and having tea parties with her great- granddaughter, Little One. She was of the Nazarene faith.

Mrs. Brooks is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, Junior Lee and Dorothy Brooks of Omega; two daughters and one son-in-law, Mary B. and Gary Abell of Tifton and Paula Melissa “Missy” Brooks of Norman Park; five grandchildren and their spouses, Stacey and Michelle Abell, Miranda and Dion Hale, Brittni and Doug Walls, Shannon and Danny Erskine and Michele Brooks; her great-grandchildren, Hannah Abell, Rebekah Abell, Colyn Hale, Owen Hale, Aubree Hale, John D. Walls, Henry Walls, Brooklyn Walls, Alana Erskine, Madison Erskine, Brayden Erskine, Makayla Bright and Jaylen Shealey; one great-great grandchild, Dehlani Mathis; one brother and sister-in-law, Curtis and Shirley Watson of Tifton; Emma Jane Watson Miley of Moultrie; and several nieces and nephews.

Flowers will be accepted or memorial gifts may be made to Hospice of Tift Area, 618 Central Ave. N., Tifton, GA 31794.
